Patient experience of interpreting services in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark. Earlier this year we collated feedback on service users’ experience of the interpreting services provided at GP surgeries across Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark. The findings will be published shortly and will assist commissioners in ongoing service development and improvement.
Interpreting services are available to all patients registered with a GP practice in Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark who need interpreting support when seeing a GP or a nurse at their GP practice.
What services are provided?
- Telephone interpreting.
- Video on-demand interpreting.
- Face-to-face interpreting.
- British Sign Language interpreting (face-to-face and video).
Please note that all requests for face-to-face interpreting need to be booked in advance.
How can you book an interpreter?
Patients can ask for an interpreter when booking an appointment at their GP practice.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we advise that, when possible, interpretation takes place via telephone or video.
Comments and complaints
If you have any feedback about the interpreting service you receive at your GP practice or wish to make a complaint please either contact your GP practice or email SEL CCG complaints team. This is in accordance with NHS regulations and guidance for management of complaints.
