Living with asthma

Asthma is a lifelong condition and attacks can happen unexpectedly. It is important that people use their asthma medicine correctly. Using an inhaler is the most common and effective way of taking asthma medicines as inhaling the medicine takes it straight into your lungs.

Using your inhaler properly

If you are living with asthma you may be using an inhaler. If you are, it is important to make sure you are using it properly to get the best from it. It is easy to use the inhaler wrongly. People can forget to shake it before pressing, inhale at the wrong time or forget to hold their breath long enough.

There are many different types of inhalers. If you are unsure how to use your inhaler, talk to your pharmacist, nurse or GP. You can also watch videos on the RightBreathe website which show you how to use different types of inhalers. You can also visit the Asthma UK website for more information on asthma and inhalers.
