The Gallions Reach Development Programme

A new partnership has been established between South East London CCG (SELCCG), NHS Property Services and the Royal Bourgh of Greenwich through One Public Estate (OPE) to identify options for how the Gallions Reach Health Centre site can deliver better health and wellbeing services, community facilities and housing.

This is part of our plans to work with our partners and local residents to explore ways to deliver more integrated healthcare services and community development in Greenwich.

The key objectives of the partnership are:

  • To plan and develop a multi-use facility to provide services, community provisions and housing to support the local community and create new initiatives and opportunities.
  • To work with local residents and the community by co-design the new development aiming to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Thamesmead Moorings and beyond
  • To support and act as a liaison between existing and new communities in Thamesmead, at a scale to provide health and wellbeing services beyond Thamesmead Moorings
  • To provide sustainable, and efficient new integrated health and wellbeing facilities at Galleons Reach, to replace the 1980s’ build that is no longer fit for purpose

We are in the very early stages of our plans and the partnership has secured an initial small amount of funding through the One Public Estate Programme to carry out feasibility studies of the Gallions Reach site. These studies will assess and inform the options for improving healthcare facilities and addressing wider wellbeing needs. The studies will help identify what is needed, what is possible and how this can be achieved. The feasibility studies report is due to be completed by April 2022.

Co-design and working with local residents are key elements of our partnership. If you would like to be involved in shaping our plans, please contact Malcolm Brydon at: Malcolm.brydon@nhs.net
