Urgent and Emergency Musculoskeletal Conditions Requiring Onward Referral

This updated guidance follows the specialist guidance document produced during the first phase of the coronavirus pandemic. The guidance supports primary and community care practitioners in recognising serious pathology which requires emergency or urgent referral to secondary care in a patient who present with new or worsening musculoskeletal (MSK) symptoms.

Updated (20th November 2020) guidance for the management of patients with musculoskeletal and rheumatic conditions

An update to the clinical guide for the management of patients with musculoskeletal and rheumatic conditions who are already taking corticosteroids, or require initiation of oral/IV corticosteroids, or require a corticosteroid injection in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has been published on the British Society of Rheumatology website.
